My Mom's Dad was a career Air Force officer. He joined the Army Air Corps BEFORE there was an Air Force but was soon as the Air Force was organized, that's where he began his long career. He LOVED being a serviceman. He had a number of assignments overseas and that's why my Mom has seen a lot of the world and it's where she developed her LOVE of travel which she enjoys to this day.
My Granddad passed away in 1992. He served during WWII and the Korean War. He's buried at Arlington National Cemetery within sight of one of his favorite places to do a tour of duty - The Pentagon.
This is a photo of him and the necklace he gave my Mom not long before he passed away.
This is my Granddad walking my Mom down the aisle in 1990..............he loved wearing his uniform and although he'd retired MANY years before the wedding, he was so proud wearing his suit to escort my Mom.
I want to say that I'm proud of EVERYONE who serves their country........and I hope on this Veteran's Day, we can honor each and every one of them and say a prayer for them and their families - a prayer of thanks for their sacrifices.
