Meet Miss Newton of the Colehaus Cats family

Thank you, Oui Oui, for hosting this "Meet The Family" event! You know we have a big family; there are nine of us! So we thought we'd share a bit about the one of us who doesn't really like the camera, even though she said she wanted to be in more photos this year. Yeah, right!

Meet our sister Miss Newton!

Here's our sister, Miss Newton, back when she was at the shelter. Not the good no-kill shelter, but the big regular, scary, you've-only-got-so-many-days shelter. Our mom didn't want to visit that sad place but our dad did and talked her into stopping on the way home. As Miss Newton tells it, dad was walking by looking at the lower cages and she reached out and snagged him to look up into her high level cage (so high up, mom couldn't even see in it). Dad says it was love at first sight; he's always been a sucker for orinch girls. Back then, Miss Newton's name at the shelter was "Apricot." Her nose is extra pink because she had rubbed it hard on the cage bars in hopes of breaking free.

She was pretty happy with her name change and so were we. After she was adopted, Miss Newton slept a lot because she had had her Spay Day wherein someone stole all her belly furs, that took forever and a day to grow back. She often consoled herself with nip pillows and sometimes, slept on dad's arms while he tried to read. That was okay though. Dad reads some pretty boring stuff. Not only would we be sleeping, we'd be snoring too!

We don't know much about Miss Newton's early years except that she may have had a litter of kittens once before. She was, and still is, pretty mother-y when it comes to snuggling with Pia Bean, whom she took under her wing when Pia was a baby and taught her how to be a good ginger princess. Miss Newton also helped raise Tessa as a kitten and later, Olivia and Quint when they were kittens. Now, she's looking out for little Viola and loves to play hide-and-seek, when not snuggling with those nip pillows that is.

Miss Newton also has the softest pink toesies. They are very kissable and she doesn't mind it one bit.

"Hey! I do too mind, I do!"

Anyway, we think she ought to get over her photo phobia. We love our sister, Miss Newton, and think she is very pretty. She's a buff orange color with clear green eyes. Even after two years here, she still has a little separation anxiety when dad goes to work and meows for him in the late afternoon. We know to plug our ears around four o'clock. When dad comes home, she's waiting for him by the door and he tells her she's pretty. We know she knows that too. We think secretly she likes being difficult for mom's camera. But just look how good she looks when she stays still for a moment! She's always running here and there, meowing and playing with her toy gray rat, carrying it as though it was a kitten (maybe a baby Tessa!). It's hard to pin her down.

We think our sister Miss Newton is extra special. Mom calls her the glue that helps our big family stay together without much complaint and we have to agree. That's about it. We can't wait to read about your family! Thanks, Oui Oui!

Gosh it's nice to meet you Miss Newton and ALL your other family too.....I'm glad you got your Dad's attention at the shelter - that's how I got MY forever home too...I was a tiny kitten in a high cage and I stuck my paw out of the cage just in time so my parents saw me before they left! We're the lucky ones aren't we?! It's fun meeting everyone's family......I'm an "only" in my house but big families look like fun.

Hugs, Sammy
