TCC Welcomes 2013

Hey, one of you mentioned a party at the TCC, so let's have one. We resized Gracie's NYE banner since her mom isn't working for her through the holiday. She did a great job including everycat. So let's party!

Remembering and Celebrating Sniffie and Tamir

Today we are remembering our sweet Angels Tamir and Sniffie.

This was a very hard post for Mom to do because Tamir and Sniffie were so very special to her.  They moved to Florida from New Jersey with her and they both were very close to Mom.

First we honor sweet Sniffie.  As you can see (or hear), Sniffie was a great singer...and very patriotic!

She knew it was important to relax...

and to maintain a good diet...

Exercise was important to Sniffie..

and she knew the value of a good nap...

This bed is next to Mom's computer desk.  Sniffie used to sleep there all the time when Mom was on the computer.  Mom still gets leaky eyed when she sees it empty.

Next we honor our special ManCat Tamir.  He was an active member of the Tabby Cat Club and was fortunate enough to find love with is special ladycat Gracie.

Tamir knew how to find a good napping spot too...

He loved his ManCave!!

Of course he also knew the value of a good diet....

As well as taking time to just "hang out"

and enjoying family time...

and a good box...

Tamir and Sniffie were pals.  She loved to lick his ears!!

His signature RED bed!!!

Did you know Tamir was a showcat?  Here's his professional photo taken by Chanan!

He had his silly side too.  Here he is in those cute bunny ears!!

and his Fireman costume from Halloween!

He had a gentle side too...

He really loved sweet Gracie...

They had fun times together.

Angels Sniffie and Tamir....we miss you very much.   We hope we didn't overwhelm you with photos.

Gone, but Never Forgotten

Graphite, Bitsy, Maggie and Lady Madonna
My brofur Sammy and I are so thankful for all the kittehs who came before us.  They taught the mom and the dad all about how to love (and spoil!) cats really well.  In our house, Bitsy, Graphite, Lady Madonna and Maggie are loved forever, and remembered often with much joy and laughter.

Bitsy was the mom's heart cat, and she was a great judge of people. She was one of the cats who came before us, so Sammy and I never knew her.  But we have been told that she was a beautiful tabby, and the sweetest, most unassuming cat ever.  Bitsy LOVED snuggling, and being brushed (she would even try to brush herself if you put the brush in her paws!).  She is also a “Matron Saint” of lost pets; on two occasions, lost pets have been found soon after the mom asked her for help. Bitsy ran off to the Bridge in March 2006, after a long battle with feline diabetes.

The dad adopted Graphite not long after he started volunteering at PAWS, and says that in many ways, Graphite chose him.  When the dad first met Graphite, he was a thin, shabby furred cat from a hoarding situation.  Once he came to live with Dad, though, he gained some weight and his blue-grey coat became shiny and full.  He slept on Dad's arm every night, and loved paper bags, cat milk, and wearing bandanas and cat neckties.  He was very sensitive to human emotions, and comforted those who were sad.  Dad's heart cat Graphite made his journey to the Rainbow Bridge in January 2008.

Lady Madonna was a sweet, motherly cat who lived in one of the "open" rooms at PAWS (where the mom and dad volunteer).  Lady cared for and cuddled with the smaller, younger kitties that lived in her room. Whenever Mom and Dad would visit, Lady would lay on top of them and purr up a storm.  They loved Lady Madonna SO much that they decided to adopt her.  Sadly, she was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor in her ear, and passed away in spring 2006 – before they were able to bring her home.  But we view her as one of the cats who came before, and her ashes are here with us forever.

Maggie first came to live with us as a foster, when her elderly owner became ill, and no one in her family wanted to adopt a 13-year old cat.  Mom and Dad discovered that Maggie loved to play, and that she was a real snuggler with a great personality.  Well, it wasn’t long before the mom and dad fell in love and decided to adopt her.  Some of their best memories are of me (Moosey) and Maggie playing through the baby gate that separated “her room” from the hallway.  It took them months to figure out that I was jumping the gate regularly to visit Maggie. MOL!  Sadly, Maggie was only with us for about 1-½ years before she passed away from a very aggressive form of cancer in March 2011.  But we are so glad she had a happy home with us, and knew how much we all loved her.

Thank you, Gracie, for hosting this wonderful remembrance event.

Love and hugs,

Moosey

Timmy Tomcats Angel Family

Hi Tabbies.

Timmy here. We think it is great that you all want to remember family and friends who have gone over the bridge. This is an important part of our family life. It may help that we live smack dab on a Astral Spirit Crossroads. Our Bridge Family visit on a regular basis by dropping into our dreams. When we have a new family member it is a bit unnerving the  first few times, but, then it becomes a great honor. The Kitty who is blessed by a visit gets to discuss its meaning during our weekly Cat Rounds.

Lets visit with our TomCat home Angels:

Ming: Lived with Pops from 1969 to  1984 and was quite feisty.
Ming lived with Pops from 1969 to  1984.
Peep: aka Pee was a wonderful little kitty. She had a crushed leg when adopted from the SPCA. They offered to amputate but Pops said his vet would decide. No pain so she got to keep her leg.
Pee getting a whack from one of her first kittens
1984 to 1999

Tommy Tumor: No, he did not have a tumor. It was a joke. The young lady Pops was living with told a story from her neighborhood. A large male cat was walking by some young children playing in the street. The little girl looked up at her mother and said very sadly: "Look Mommy! That kitty has Tumors". Mother got a little red faced and said nothing as this was a proud male cat if you get my
drift. Meow!
Tommy. 1985 to 1988

INKY: The old man of the angel clowder he was with Pops for 22 years.

Inky under the paw of mother Pee
Inky 1985 to 1997
Stinker: aka Big Head: The biggest cat we have ever met. He was a whopping 25 pounds. We joke with Angel Big Head that he will put a hole in the clouds.
I do so have a neck. Its just hard to find.
Stinker 1991 to 2006
Amber: Amber was Pops Moms cat. Amber had other ideas and moved in with us for her last year.
Amber wants to give you a cat smile!
1993 to 2007
CoCo: This happy little Sphynx was Pops Mom's cat. When she passed he needed a new cuddle partner.
CoCo wants to Snuggle 1993 to 2009

Thanks everyfur for visiting with our Angels. Our Blog has their full bios if you want to visit.

They do Kitty Angel Dust runs on all those in need, and just to say hello too! Don't be surprised if they visit in your dreams.

Love you all!

Remembering Crystal, Jenny, Cotton and Jean

We'd like to remember and celebrate our blogging bridge siblings- the handsome Crystal, the independent Jenny and the tortie with 'tude Cotton.  All are remembered with tears and with laughter.

And we'd like to include Jean, an old friend of Jan's that we never met because she lives in a different state.  She died just a few months ago and today would have been her hummmf, hummmmf birthday.  (Sorry, never tell a woman's age!)  Jean and her dad Frank were two kind and generous people who worked hard and had little but liked to treat the disabled or elderly with a dinner out.  They are both gone now. And both are missed.  Even though you and Jan can't head to Burger King to celebrate, Happy Birthday, Jean!

Remembering Pluto and Indy ~

We remember Pluto and Indy in our house quite frequently. Their photos are all over the place, and sometimes I think Grace's boys were listening a little too closely whenever my grandbeans and I discussed Pluto and how he loved to play with (read: torment!) Indy!!

Pluto: August 1991 - November 2003

Pluto was always a BIG boy, weighing in around 17# on a regular basis. Then he got sick in Feb or Mar 2003, and by June (below) he had lost about half his weight. The vets could never figure out what was happening to him, and we went to many! So we loved him, and he kept on playing and being his charming self, even though he couldn't have been feeling good sometimes. He left us in November that year. Broke my heart.

Indy: April 1991 - March 2006

Indy loved to play, too ... but not with Pluto! She liked her beans (me and my bro and my grandbeans) to flick the feathers around and to turn on the little mechanical mouse. She was also a superb hunter; if she had tolerated it, we would have put a pith helmet on her! For the 10 years in our last house in California, she cleaned up that neighborhood of all the unwanted critters, such as the mice that loved to make their homes in the yards of vacant houses! She was thorough!

Grace is very much like Indy in her personality, except of course that Grace doesn't hunt. She is not allowed to go outside!!

Opus & Roscoe

Roscoe & Opus when they were kitties

Today I want to have a special post for my angel nephews, Opus and Roscoe. These two were the best of buddies and wherever you found one you would find the other. The brothers and came into our family on Christmas in 1995. What a happy and unexpected surprise!!!

We always called Opus, Mr. Snuggle Pants. He could never ever get enough snuggle time in. Roscoe was called Funny Face. He was our funny one that was always finding things to play with only would snuggle when it was his idea. These two kitties changed our lives and who were by being in our family.
Opus & Roscoe~the best of buddies

The boys, which they were often called, were world wide travelers as they moved from the midwest and traveled all the way to Italy, they even understood Italian. They spent many laze afternoons on the patio watching folks go by their house.

Unfortunately our dear sweet Roscoe left for the bridge suddenly in the fall of 2008 while living in Italy. He was so missed and still is. When he went to the bridge Opus was very lonely for him and would walk around the house and meow our to him. It just broke our hearts that Opus so missed his brother and his mommie found a sister, Olive. Olive too came from the midwest and traveled all the way to Italy to be with her new family.

Opus was so happy to have a new sister but it took her a little bit of time to get used to a big bro. They turned out to be the best of friends too. They also were snuggled buddies. Opus and Olive returned to the states and our family was so happy to have them close to us so we could visit.

Our little man, Opus, returned home to us along with his sister. We were able to give him the love and care that he needed before he left for the bridge. He left us a year ago in December. Our hearts were broken when he left as it was when Roscoe left. We miss him and his brother so much. They have taken a part of our heart with them, it will always belong to them.

We miss you each day and talk about you often. Love you bunches Mr. Snuggle Pants and Funny Face.

The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies
that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

Socks ~ Remembering Family & Friends

First I wanna remember my brother Whiskers. He welcomed me into the family when I came to live here.

Next I wanna remember Charybdis. She actually had some tabby stripes on her. Look at her orange furs and you will see them.

I really enjoyed getting to know my fellow Tabby Cat Club Members. Sadly many of them left for the Rainbow Bridge this year. I have made graphics for them and now I will share the graphics with you, if that is OK.

I miss all of you

For All Of Our "Soul Kitties" Who Have Crossed The Rainbow Bridge

This post first published on July 2, 2010 on what was then the 3rd anniversary of my Bobo's crossing the "Bridge"....
Bobo as a senior kitty
he was the love of my life

It is 3 years ago today that I lost my Bobo,  my  "Soul Kitty".  What is a "Soul Kitty?" It is  once-in-a- lifetime pet.  The ying to our yang.  A pet tied more deeply to us than many people in our lives have been, or could ever hope to be.  Our fur babies are ALL special but I believe if you think really hard there is just one who stands out from the others.

The one whose fur would be dampened by our tears as he snuggled peacefully by our side just to offer us comfort.

I apologize for the poor photo quality
This photo is OLD!

The one who would make us laugh til our sides ached at all of his kitty crazies and craziness.
My Baby Bobo

The one who you swore that " there was no other cat out there quite like him" (isn't it funny how we ALL say that about our cats?)

Bobo a month or so
before he crossed the bridge
For my Bobo and  all of those one-of-a-kind kitties who have touched our lives,  thank you. These poems are both quite well known but they are worth viewing again and again.

A Pet's Ten Commandments

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want from me.

3. Place your trust in me, it's crucial for my well being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, entertainment, but I only have you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet I choose not to.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Am I getting the right food, have I been in the sun too long, or is my heart getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too will grow old.

10. On the diffucult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.
