Tessa and Pia say: We kittens from long ago, who are BIG cats now remember the year we first were introduced to the 4th of July, and flowers! Our Mom said loud flowers were better than loud bangs and booms, and for once, we agree! Now that we're older and much, much wiser, we listen to our Mom on this day and stick to her like glue because we know she has a treat in store for us later on.
She makes us a big fort with blankets and boxes and scratchy things and toys that we can play with while we're hiding from loud sounds outside. And later, she joins us with a flashlight and books and treats and a brushie or two and snuggles, and then, she reads to us from kitty books she's collected over the years. We like that a lot! It turns a scary night into one, um, not so scary. We're all together and that makes outside noises not so bad.
America, we're glad you're having celebrations today. And if you don't mind, we'll celebrate in our own way. Happy Birthday!

That is a good way to hide from the booms. Happy 4th! XO
Happy 4th of July, Tessa and Pia! We hope it's been a good, safe and quiet one at Colehaus XO!
Oh what a WONDERFUL way to celebrate the 4th - your Mom helps you get through it. I hid out in our basement and got some peace and quiet too!
Hugs, Teddy
Oh such sweeties and so cute! Lovely post and fun too!
Happy Day to you,

Grace and I and her sons agree -- togetherness helps get through those loud, flashy nights. Grace fell asleep on her little bed by the couch, and I fell asleep on the couch. Her sons were right near us. The TV was on, too, and that helped. I think in this whole house, the four of us were in about a 10-square-foot area!
I like the fort and book-reading ideas. We may have to give that a try this coming New Year's Eve!!
Love ~
