The Night Before Christmas 2020

~TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS~

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.

And Mama in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.

When out on the roof there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutter, and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow gave the lustre of midday to objects below, when, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick. More rapid than eagles, his coursers they came, and he whistled and shouted and called them by name: "Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky so up to the house-top the coursers they flew, with the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

Raz

 And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof the prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As I drew in my head and was turning around, down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack. 

His eyes--how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, and the beard on his chin was as white as the snow. The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly, that shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, and I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. 

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk. And laying his finger aside of his nose, and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Great care was given to make requests for the story. If anyone was overlooked I am terribly sorry and please accept my sincerest apology.

 'Tis the season and everyone is patiently (or not) waiting for Santa Paws to arrive in just a couple of days and nights.    Assuming we've all been VERY GOOD (I know I have) we will have stockings full of goodies and presents under the tree....................I'm being rather patient.

Mom I don't think this is enough snow for Santa to land his sleigh on......will we get some more before Christmas Eve?    I'm worried........

Ornaments

 I made a couple of ornaments for Cat Scouts.  I tried posting them to my own blog but it wasn't working so will try here.  I hope you like them.

Rosie's Letter to Santa

 Dear Santa, I would like a sweater that no other cat has worn-make it fun to show off my playful personality. Also, a meow activated remote control. If there is no such thing, please make some just remember all patent rights belong to me I noticed you didn’t send an elf to spy/watch us so I have been taking notes. Emmy stole my blue mouse, Drake peed on a chair, Penny is mean to Trouble and Brody and they are mean to me and Joanie spilled the entire bowl of water in the bedroom. Love, Rosie

Our Letter to Santa

 We wrote our letter together this year.  We sure hope all of our pals get what they wish for.  Santa's pretty good about answering requests.  We already have our stockings hanging up!

We can't wait to read everyone else's letters to Santa.

DEAR SANTA

 

Dear Santa,

I am a fortunate kitty.

I have a loving and wonderful family.

I am pretty sure you cannot give me the gift I am asking for

but maybe just maybe you could you could help with making this

more of a peaceful and healthier world for all. 

When you could fly all around the world on Christmas I am hoping

that you could sprinkle magic dust on every part of the world. 

I know your dust is magic and maybe you could add world peace in the dust

and dust to make the covid virus be under control so others will not

be affected. I know a vaccination is close and hopefully this will be a thing of the past.

My Dear Santa Wish List

 Oh I've written so many wish lists since last Christmas it's crazy - but I threw them all out the window when I realized this was going to be a very different Christmas.

I've thought a lot about what's most important to me - and that's my Mom and Dad and my happy home.   OF course I want the virus to go away forever and ever but I'm not sure that's in Santa's department.   We all hope for that.

Here's my final wish list.................you all get to see it before I send it off to Santa.............oh - and don't forget to leave cookies and milk out for the BIG GUY - he gets hungry flying around all night in that sleigh ya know!

I hope all of you get all the things you have on YOUR Wish List !

DEAR SANTA FROM TIGGER

Dear Santa,

I've been a good Tabby Cat this year. I really, really, really, really want to ask you for some special gifts this year. Santa, these special gifts are not for me but for Mommy Crystal, 'Sister' Daisy Mae and the world and OK maybe a special gift for me too.

First, I ask you to give my Mommy Crystal what she asks for. She really deserves several special gifts for rescuing me and giving me a furrever, loving home and letting me be boss. Second, I ask you to give 'Sister' Daisy Mae everything she wants too. She deserves it just like Mommy Crystal. Thirdly, although not everyone in the world probably deserves a gift and may be on your naughty list, please do me a huge favor and give everyone in the world a special gift. Finally, I ask you to give me a special gift too. I don't feel that's asking to much Santa.

CAT HERDING DAY

 

Pssssst, over here. I am under the folks' bed.

This is a super duper great place to hide when they are trying to round me up to go to the vet.

I can watch them go by me. Unfortunately, they usually find me.

But it funny watching them get me out from under the bed.

Cat Herding Day

 Humans think they are pretty good at herding their cats into carriers or cages or cars but WE really have a variety of wonderful escape techniques at our disposal for these occasions don't we?!

My tried and true one is going to the top of my cat tree............it's even taller than my Dad...........nobody can get me up there!    Another favorite is under the couch.   Neither of my parents are strong enough to move the couch - while it's a SQUEEZE for me to get under there I can and WILL if I must!

This is the tree Mom and Dad got for me !

This is me at the tippity top spot on the tree which is located in MY unfinished basement hideaway and is my SAFE spot !

CAT HERDING is a fine art - fortunately my Mom and Dad are really lousy at it.   I hope they stay that way.

National Christmas Tree Day Timmy & Fitz

We got our tree up and decorated yesterday. Fitz hop up here. I am doing prezzies so take it away. Anymeow, we got the tree up and only have a bit more to do till we can call it done. If you can ever say that at Christmastime. It seems there is always a last minute something to do. Hope our Tabby Friends had fun with their trees too!
